John Westover

PRINCIPAL PROCESS ADVISOR

  • John is a principal process engineer with over 40 years of international experience in oil and gas, process plants, power plants, safety studies, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL and bowtie risk-assessment. 

    John has wide & deep experience with hazard evaluation, custody transfer, process simulation, design, debottlenecking, troubleshooting, start-up, project conception, training, and mentoring and also experience with unit operations involving distillation, energy transfer, pumps and compressors, electrical generation, filtration, storage, absorption, adsorption, cryogenic operations, reactors, and utilities management.

    John’s qualifications & study-experience make him a proven problem-solver with developed analytical skills.

Soumen Guha

FOUNDER AND MANAGING DIRECTOR

  • Soumen has made Sustech a trusted name in multidisciplinary consulting engineering and project management company providing engineering and technical services of highest professional standard in Australia, since 2013. Soumen has put Sustech as a pioneering consulting firm in Australia in the field of Hydrogen, CCS and net zero with his innovative ideas and core strength of technology integration. 

    He has established Sustech Engineering as a niche company integrating the fields of engineering and information technology solutions. 

    Soumen is a delivery–oriented project manager who has successfully managed and delivered 100s of small to medium projects.  

    He is an engineer with a very positive attitude and has natural leadership ability with a bearing of responsibility and integrity. 

    A Mechanical Engineer with 25+ years of international experience in Piping, Pipeline, Mechanical Engineering and Project Management in the fields of Oil & Gas, Power, Mining-Metal and Chemical industries across Australia, India, China, Malaysia, US, UK, Europe, Soumen is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.  

    Soumen has a special ability of problem-solving in challenging and complex work situations. He is familiar with most contracting options i.e. PMC, EPCM, Lump-Sum Turnkey, Alliance, Risk Reward, Reimbursable, Cost+Fee and has an impressive working experience with various E&Ps, Contractors & Licensors e.g. XOM, Shell, Petronas, Woodside, CoP, AGIG, Yara, GFG, Mitsui, and Bechtel. 

    Soumen has been very successful in executing Project management and Engineering management. He has established an impressive track-record as an independent validator of design and MDRs of pipelines, facilities, process and power piping, tank farms and pressure vessels. 

    Soumen believes in team effort and knowledge-sharing as key to success, which has made him a leading contributor to training young engineers. Soumen contributes to the industry through his business process improvement ideas and building system software. 

    Sustech Engineering, from its early days, is a keen participant in community & arts projects, where creative & musical talents are nurtured and encouraged to blossom. Soumen has made a learning & creative platform to let multiculturalism flourish through creative expressions.

Dongke Zhang

  • Prof. Dongke Zhang brings over four decades of expertise in energy research, technology development, and commercial innovation. With a deep background in combustion, fuels, and power systems, Dongke has led numerous initiatives bridging the gap between cutting-edge science and real-world applications.

    An accomplished energy expert and Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, he is recognised as one of Australia’s top 100 most influential engineers. Dongke’s rare ability to translate complex technical concepts into commercial opportunities adds strategic depth to Sustech’s energy and decarbonisation initiatives.

David Gilbert

PRINCIPAL MECHANICAL ENGINEER

  • David has had over 40 years of experience in a variety of industries. Since 1979 David has been involved in all facets of industries encompassing bitumen and oil, gas, pulp and paper, food, fish processing, minerals processing including zinc, lead, nickel, copper, gold, antimony, mercury, uranium, and cadmium.

    His expertise and experiences include project Management from conception through to commissioning and handover, stress analysis of high-pressure piping systems and vessels (air, steam, fluids), design of pumping and piping systems, air and steam systems, launders (flumes), FRP design & QA, stress analysis of high-pressure piping system and vessels, design of pumping and piping system, air and steam systems, lauders.
